Chronicling Themes in the Economic and Social History of Malaysia, edited and with an Introduction by Sultan Nazrin Shah, and based on a selection of articles from the Economic History of Malaysia (EHM) website, will be launched on 2 December 2025 at the St Regis Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The book is published by World Scientific Publishing.
The book comprises 35 fascinating chapters by highly distinguished scholars. The chapters cover multicultural and multiethnic Malaysia’s volatile and intriguing past as it transformed itself from a low- to an almost-high-income economy.
In conjunction with the launch of Chronicling, the EHM Project will be hosting a Seminar entitled Historical Themes: Current Policy Challenges.
The seminar will review themes that have shaped Malaysia's economic and social landscape and have enduring relevance to current policy challenges. It will be organized around three panel sessions covering the Colonial Years through Independence; Post-Independence Nation Building, and Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Growth.
